Thousands of Lebanese began fleeing their homes in southern Lebanon on Monday, seeking refuge in Beirut and other cities as Israeli airstrikes intensified in the region.

The mass exodus comes in response to calls for evacuation and growing fears that the conflict could escalate into a full-scale war with Hezbollah.

Eyewitnesses and local media reported large groups of residents heading north in vehicles, particularly towards the coastal city of Sidon, with many continuing on to Beirut.

According to Lebanon 24, the streets and highways in Sidon are now experiencing severe traffic congestion.

Schools and institutions in the city have reduced class hours and urged parents to collect their children due to the worsening situation in the south.

The southern towns and villages, under heavy Israeli bombardment, are seeing significant displacement. Health authorities have mobilized medical teams in anticipation of potential emergencies, in line with the Ministry of Health’s response plan.

The Israeli military launched a series of intense attacks on southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley, with early reports from the Ministry of Health indicating over 50 casualties.

The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has escalated, with Israel shifting its focus from the south, where it is engaged with Gaza, to the northern front against Hezbollah.
