The command of the Iraqi border forces arrested, on Sunday, 17 foreign infiltrators attempting to illegally cross the country’s borders. Al-Sumaria News channel reported Sunday morning, citing a statement from the command of the Iraqi border forces, that 17 foreign infiltrators were arrested trying to cross the borders of the fourth Iraqi region illegally.

The military statement mentioned, “Through continuous field tracking to prevent infiltrations and smuggling, the first battalion of the sixteenth border regiment under the command of the fourth region’s border, was able to arrest 17 foreign infiltrators who tried to cross the border illegally”. The Iraqi Border Forces statement confirmed that an official record was organized, and legal measures were taken against the foreign infiltrators, referring them to the competent authorities.

On May 12th, the Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of 12 foreign infiltrators who attempted to illegally cross the border through the third border region. And on April 9th, the command of the Iraqi border forces announced the arrest of 46 individuals who tried to illegally cross the Iraqi borders, with legal measures taken against the infiltrators and their referral to the competent authorities.

According to the Iraqi “Rudaw” network, infiltration operations into Iraq from the Iranian border have recently increased, necessitating the construction of a dirt barrier on the Iraqi side in June of the previous year.
