Brazil Blocks "X" Platform Again Amid Ongoing Battle with Elon Musk

Brazil has once again blocked access to the “X” platform, owned by Elon Musk, after authorities confirmed on Thursday that a previous restoration of the service was “involuntary” and due to a server change.

The ban follows a contentious debate over freedom of expression on social media in Brazil and beyond.

Basilio Rodriguez Perez, from the Brazilian Association of Internet Providers (Abrint), stated that just before 4:00 PM local time (7:00 PM GMT), the platform stopped using Cloudflare, a cybersecurity company that had allowed “X” to bypass the block. Journalists from Agence France-Presse reported that access to the platform, which was available via mobile devices on Wednesday, is now restricted again.

This marks a new development in Brazil’s ongoing clash with Elon Musk, as authorities were surprised when the platform briefly became accessible despite the ban.
