The Government Media Office in Gaza announced that the number of journalists killed in the strip has risen to 173 since the onset of the war on the enclave.

“The number of journalist martyrs has increased to 173 (journalists), following the recent death of colleague Abdullah Shakshak, who worked with several Arab media outlets,” stated the Media Office.

The office vehemently condemned the “targeted killing of Palestinian journalists by the Israeli occupation,” holding it “fully responsible for these heinous crimes.”

The statement added, “We urge the international community, international organizations, and those related to journalistic work worldwide to deter the occupation and pursue it in international courts for its ongoing crimes and to pressure it to stop the genocide and the crime of killing and assassinating Palestinian journalists.”

Earlier today, the Gaza Health Ministry reported a significant increase in casualties due to ongoing Israeli bombardment since October 7th, with the death toll now at 41,206 and 95,337 injured.

“The Israeli occupation committed three massacres against families in Gaza, with 24 killed and 57 injured reaching hospitals in the last 24 hours,” the ministry disclosed.

Despite the adoption of two UN Security Council resolutions calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities and orders from the International Court of Justice to take mandatory measures to avoid targeting civilians, Israel continues its military operations in Gaza.
