Lebanon & Israel to Hold Meeting on Border Crisis

Lebanese media outlets revealed on Saturday that there are arrangements for a trilateral meeting between Lebanon, Israel, and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) commander, General Arnoldo Lazaro, to discuss the border crisis.

According to Lebanon 24, the meeting will take place in Naqoura on Monday, and representatives from the Lebanese army, UNIFIL, and the Israeli occupation army will participate.

The website stated that the meeting will address Israeli violations along the Blue Line, Israel’s occupation of the village of Al-Ghajar, the issue of the two tents set up by Hezbollah in the liberated Bustra Farm, Israel’s tree-cutting activities near Houla and Mays Al-Jabal, and other Israeli violations.

Israel has been protesting against the Lebanese Hezbollah party’s installation of a tent on the border since last June and has demanded its removal. Lebanon argues that the tent is within Lebanese territory and has called on Israel to withdraw from the Lebanese-controlled part of Al-Ghajar village.

Earlier today, the Israeli occupation army stated that it had dealt with Hezbollah elements attempting to target the border fence between the two countries. They released a video showing an explosion that appeared to be a bomb detonation very close to four individuals on the border, who then ran into Lebanese territory.

On the previous Tuesday, Lebanon lodged an official complaint with the United Nations about “the Israeli side’s complete occupation and completion of annexing the northern part of the Lebanese village of Al-Ghajar, extending into the outskirts of the town of Al-Mari.” This came after the Israeli army erected a barbed wire fence around the area, which Lebanon described as a “serious violation and an attempt to annex the village” to Israel.
