A UN expert has warned that the intensification of the Israeli occupation forces’ attacks on northern West Bank represents a serious escalation of severe violence and human rights violations committed by Israel against the Palestinian people since October 7, 2023.
Francesca Albanese, the UN’s Independent Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, stated that Israeli genocidal violence threatens to spill over from Gaza into the entire occupied Palestinian territory.
Albanese added: “There is increasing evidence that no Palestinian is safe under Israel’s unrestrained control,” pointing out that ongoing incitements to genocide by senior Israeli leaders and officials remain unpunished, often carried out by soldiers, armed settlers, and others, revealing an intent to destroy the Palestinian people under occupation.
The UN expert noted that increasing calls by Israeli leaders to turn cities in the West BankWest Bank and refugee camps into a “mini Gaza” translate into military operations that result in significant loss of life and widespread destruction of urban areas in the West Bank.
