On Wednesday, Egypt and Nigeria signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at deepening cooperation in the defence industry. The signing took place at the Nigerian Ministry of Defence headquarters in Abuja.

The MoU was signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defense, Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, on behalf of Nigeria, and Assistant Minister of Defence, Major General Walid Hammouda, on behalf of Egypt.

The agreement is intended to strengthen bilateral and defense cooperation in accordance with the existing laws and regulations of both countries, according to the Nigerian Ministry of Defense’s website.

Kana expressed optimism that the long-standing strong relations between Nigeria and Egypt would foster lasting collaboration between the two nations, highlighting Nigeria’s significant benefits from Egypt in areas such as intelligence sharing and training.

Hammouda expressed his appreciation for the platform provided for signing the MoU, reaffirming Egypt’s full commitment to the terms outlined in the agreement. He also expressed gratitude for the friendly relations between the two countries.

This MoU with Nigeria follows Egypt’s recent military agreement with Somalia.
