The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of an international criminal network comprising five suspects involved in smuggling drugs into Kuwait. Authorities seized 60 kilograms of marijuana and hashish, with the total value of the confiscated drugs estimated at 750,000 Kuwaiti dinars, or approximately $2.5 million.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Ministry reported that the International Anti-Narcotics Department successfully dismantled a criminal network that specialized in smuggling drugs from a European country into Kuwait via Kuwait International Airport. Shockingly, two of the suspects were employees of the General Administration of Customs, who exploited their positions to facilitate the smuggling of narcotics. All suspects and the seized drugs have been referred to the Narcotics Prosecution for legal action.
Kuwait has significantly intensified its efforts to combat drug trafficking, leading to multiple arrests and drug seizures in recent months.
