US Plans to Evacuate 100,000 Americans from Lebanon

A U.S. government official has revealed that evacuation plans for American citizens in Lebanon could involve up to 100,000 people.

According to a report by Sky News Arabia, the official stated that this evacuation could be one of the largest in history, potentially surpassing the scale of previous U.S. evacuations from Vietnam in 1975 and Kabul in 2021.

Notably, two individuals were killed in southern Lebanon yesterday when an Israeli drone targeted a vehicle on the “Broushait-Kounin-Beit Yahoun” road, according to Lebanon’s official National News Agency.

In addition to the drone strike, the town of Shiheen in southern Lebanon faced artillery shelling by Israeli forces, followed by an aerial bombardment by Israeli warplanes.

The attacks are part of escalating tensions in the region, as Israel continues to strike multiple targets across southern Lebanon.

Israeli artillery also struck the towns of Khiam, Kfarhamam, and Naqoura, specifically targeting the Wadi Hamoul area.

The shelling extended to the outskirts of Zibqin and Tayr Harfa, where Israeli forces used cluster munitions.

Earlier in the day, an Israeli tank fired directly at a house in the border town of Abbassieh, while artillery shells rained down on the southern town of Yaroun.

Throughout the night, Israeli warplanes and reconnaissance aircraft heavily patrolled the skies over the villages of Tyre and Bint Jbeil, releasing flares over border villages near the Blue Line.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah continued its military operations against Israeli positions along the border.

The group claimed responsibility for multiple attacks yesterday, stating that it targeted Israeli surveillance equipment at the Misgav Am site, launched rockets at a gathering of Israeli soldiers near the Mitat barracks, and shelled Israeli forces near the Samaka site in the Kfar Shouba hills, an area of southern Lebanon occupied by Israel.

These latest developments come amidst ongoing hostilities between Hezbollah and Israeli forces, heightening concerns over a potential broader conflict in the region.

The situation remains volatile, with both sides continuing to exchange fire along the heavily militarized border.
