Morocco’s Appeal Court in Fez convicted Abdelali Hamieddine, a leader in the Justice and Development Party (PJD), to 3 years in prison for his involvement in the killing of the Qa’idi student Mohammed Ait Ljid Benaissa.

The court also ordered him to pay a sum of 20,000 dirhams to each of the civil claimants.

The mentioned court found Hamieddine guilty of “participation in assault and battery leading to unintentional death,” after reclassifying the charges brought against him in this case that dates back over three decades.

During the session, which was attended by officials from the PJD, including Idris Al Azmi Al Idrissi, strict security measures were implemented at the entrance and surrounding areas of the Appeal Court.

Hamieddine is currently on bail and faces charges of “premeditated and deliberate murder” in this case, which the Appeal Court reclassified.

It is worth mentioning that the Qa’idi student Mohammed Ait Ljid Benaissa met his untimely death due to serious injuries sustained during violent incidents.
