US Embassy Facilitates Repatriation Loans in Beirut

The US Embassy in Beirut announced that Americans wishing to leave Lebanon can apply for financial assistance under the “Return to Home” loan program.

In a post on the platform X, the embassy stated, “US citizens in need who require assistance to return to the United States can apply for a repatriation loan.”

Earlier, the embassy had urged its nationals in Lebanon to leave and advised those unable to do so to be prepared to shelter in place for extended periods.

Previously, Ankara and Tokyo had also urged their citizens to leave Lebanon and avoid visiting the south, anticipating a deterioration in the region’s situation.

Additionally, the embassies of India, Sweden, the UK, Australia, and other countries have recommended their nationals leave Lebanon.

These advisories follow the assassination of Hezbollah commander Fouad Shakr and the head of Hamas’ political bureau Ismail Haniyeh last week, which was followed by threats of retaliation from Tehran and Hezbollah.
