The Head of External Relations at the World Food Program in Sudan, Leni Kinsley, stated that 25 million people in Sudan are facing hunger. She urged the international community to provide more funding and find diplomatic solutions to the ongoing conflict in the country.

In a statement to the American channel “Alhurra” on Sunday, Kinsley mentioned, “There are deaths due to famine in the Zamzam camp, and 14 other regions in Sudan may face famine soon, alongside the hunger-prone areas of Kordofan, Darfur, and Al Jazirah, which is highly concerning.”

She continued, “Humanitarian organizations like the World Food Program need immediate support to enhance aid efforts. We want to reach all Sudanese bearing the brunt of this conflict and prevent the spread of hunger to other regions.”

Kinsley emphasized, “The hunger crisis is due to the ongoing conflict, which must stop now. International humanitarian law must be enforced, and relief organizations should be allowed to deliver aid.”

She revealed efforts to enhance aid, “by working with an organization in Khartoum that provides in-kind assistance to residents, collaborating with a community kitchen that serves around 1,000 meals daily, and working with other volunteers in Sudan.”
