The Lebanese health ministry reported that four Syrians were killed on Thursday in an Israeli strike on southern Lebanon, where Hezbollah and Israel have exchanged near-daily fire since the Gaza war began in October.
“The health ministry announces … four Syrian nationals were martyred” in an “Israeli strike” on the southern village of Shama, it stated, adding that the toll might rise once DNA tests had been carried out.
The incident marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, which has intensified since the start of the Gaza war. The region has witnessed frequent exchanges of fire, causing heightened tensions and civilian casualties on both sides.
