Russian President Vladimir Putin has initiated talks in the Kremlin with Indonesian Defense Minister and President-elect Prabowo Subianto, who is on a visit to Moscow.
Putin noted that Subianto is a long-time friend of Russia, commending his strong relations with Russian counterparts and his work as Indonesia’s top defense official.
The discussions are taking place in the Green Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace with a limited circle of delegates. The Russian delegation includes Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov. Following this meeting, the talks will continue over a working breakfast, held behind closed doors without media coverage.
Subianto, who won the February presidential election and will assume office in October, currently serves as Indonesia’s top defense official. Joko Widodo remains Indonesia’s acting president until Subianto takes office.
