Air France and Transavia France have announced the resumption of flights to Beirut starting Wednesday, as confirmed by a spokesperson from the Air France-KLM Group on Tuesday.
The two airlines had previously suspended their services to Lebanon for two days due to heightened fears of escalating military conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
However, as tensions in the region appear to have stabilized, both airlines are set to resume their operations.
The spokesperson stated that flights between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Beirut are scheduled to recommence on July 31, 2024.
This resumption also applies to Transavia France, which operates flights to Lebanon from Paris, Marseille, Lyon, and Nice.
To accommodate travelers affected by the previous suspension, the airlines have introduced flexible measures.
Passengers holding bookings for flights from or to Beirut scheduled before August 4, 2024, can now change or cancel their trips without incurring additional fees.
In addition to Air France and Transavia, several other airlines had temporarily suspended flights to Beirut, including Germany’s Lufthansa, which has extended its suspension until August 5.
The recent flight suspensions came in response to mounting tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, a Lebanese militant group.
This conflict has led to significant concerns about safety and security in the region, prompting airlines to act cautiously.
The resumption of flights indicates a tentative easing of these concerns, although the situation remains fluid.
Air France, a major global airline, and Transavia, its low-cost subsidiary, are part of the larger Air France-KLM Group, one of the world’s largest airline groups.
Their decision to resume flights reflects a broader effort to normalize travel and support connectivity despite ongoing regional uncertainties.
