Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for the Kremlin, confirmed that the US Embassy in Moscow will not fully resume its operations in the foreseeable future due to the absence of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

In remarks reported by Russia’s TASS news agency on Friday, Peskov stated, “The US Embassy in Moscow has not resumed its operations and will not do so, as we currently have no bilateral relations.”

This situation dates back to 2021 when Moscow imposed a ban on the employment of Russian nationals and third-country citizens at the US Embassy in response to Washington’s anti-Russian sanctions and the expulsion of a group of Russian diplomats.

Following this, the US Embassy in Moscow announced on May 12, 2021, a reduction in its consular services, including the suspension of issuing non-diplomatic visas.

Russian diplomats have repeatedly emphasized that relations between Russia and the United States have been minimized to an absolute minimum.

The resumption of normal operations for the diplomatic missions of both countries remains one of the few areas where dialogue is maintained.

However, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Moscow sees no willingness from the US to make any progress in this direction, accusing Washington of artificially delaying the issuance of visas for Russian diplomats.
