Christos Christou, President of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), has described the health and humanitarian situation in Sudan as “the worst ever” and “extremely concerning.”

In an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat, Christou stated that the situation is deteriorating rapidly amid challenges to mobility, the scarcity of active international humanitarian actors on the ground, and limited funding from donor countries.

Christou noted that more than 70 percent of health facilities have ceased operations, and malnutrition levels are rising, predicting an increase in malaria and epidemic diseases such as cholera with the onset of the rainy season.

Additionally, Rapid Support Forces (RSF) affiliated sites mourned the death of their commander in the Blue Nile sector, Abdul Rahman Al-Bishi, on Saturday.

He was killed during ongoing battles against the army in Sennar, southeastern Sudan. The RSF has yet to release an official statement on its verified X (formerly Twitter) account regarding the news.
