The Israeli military conducted airstrikes on Yemen’s Red Sea port city of Hodeidah, following attacks by the Houthi group. These strikes, carried out on Saturday, came a day after the Houthi militia claimed responsibility for a drone attack that killed one person in Tel Aviv.

Houthi-affiliated Al Masirah TV reported that Saturday’s attack targeted oil storage facilities and a power plant in Hodeidah, causing a fire. Health officials quoted by the news outlet mentioned casualties, including fatalities, without specifying numbers. The Israeli military stated it targeted “military targets” in Yemen.

The Iran-allied Houthis, who portray themselves as Yemen’s official armed forces, have been targeting shipping lanes in the Red Sea to pressure Israel to end its war on Gaza. The group has also launched ballistic missiles and drones at Israel, most of which have been intercepted.

However, early on Friday, an explosive-laden Houthi drone evaded Israeli air defenses and struck a building in Tel Aviv, marking a significant security breach in Israel.
