Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was informed of the drone attack on Thursday night and has since conducted a phone security assessment with Israel’s heads of security, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
Israeli officials told Ynet that “there will be a response to the shooting of the Iranian drone by the Houthis” and did not rule out the possibility of a retaliatory strike on Yemeni soil, stating that such action was “on the table.”
The officials also suggested that the target of the drone might have been the US embassy, indicating, “It was examined, but it appears that it did not fall there by chance. This was probably their destination.”
