On Friday, Iran commenced voting in its early presidential elections, with Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei being among the first to cast his ballot.

According to state television, Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi announced that Iranians have started voting to elect a new president following the death of former President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash.

As the 14th Iranian presidential election began domestically, the voting process also officially started for Iranian expatriates, with Iranian nationals residing in New Zealand being the first to vote.

Earlier, Vahidi stated that over 61 million eligible voters are expected to participate in the elections. The spokesperson for the Iranian General Election Commission confirmed that 58,640 polling stations have been set up across the country.

The voting process is scheduled to last for 10 hours, concluding at 6 PM local time. However, the Presidential Election Committee Chairman Mohammad Taghi Shahgeraghi mentioned that the voting period might be extended if necessary, with any extensions to be announced by the Iranian Interior Minister.
