The Libyan Crimes Watch organization announced that 40 days have passed since the disappearance of Ibrahim Aldersi, a member of the House of Representatives in Benghazi, without any information on his whereabouts.
The organization called on the Attorney General to urgently and transparently investigate the circumstances of Aldersi’s disappearance and hold those responsible accountable. It expressed “deep concern over the absence of any information about his fate, raising serious concerns about his safety and fundamental rights.”
On May 18, the Ministry of Interior in the government of Osama Hamad, assigned by the Libyan House of Representatives, denied reports of “the killing of House of Representatives member Ibrahim Aldersi,” confirming that security agencies had initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances of his disappearance.
A Libyan parliamentary source stated at the time that “Aldersi attended the celebration held in Benghazi (on May 17) to commemorate the Battle of Dignity, and was well until after 8 PM, after which his phones went unanswered and then closed,” adding that “the relevant security authorities in Benghazi were notified to search for Aldersi and determine his fate,” noting that his car was found in the Sidi Faraj area east of Benghazi.
