Morocco’s Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, held discussions on Saturday in Cannes, France, with his French counterpart, Rachida Dati, to explore ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the cultural field.

According to a statement from the Moroccan Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, the two parties agreed to jointly coordinate and collaborate within UNESCO to combat “cultural heritage theft.”

They also agreed to exchange visits as part of efforts to bolster cultural cooperation.

Additionally, a bilateral agreement was signed regarding co-production and exchange in the film industry.

This agreement aims to clarify and simplify procedures for joint film productions between Moroccan and French filmmakers.

A joint committee will be established between the Moroccan Cinematographic Center and the French National Center for Cinema to implement this agreement.

During his visit, Bensaid also inspected the Moroccan pavilion at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, which showcases a strong presence of Moroccan filmmakers.
