Libya’s First Deputy Prime Minister Hussein al-Qatrani announced the restoration of Libya’s voting rights in the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) after several years of suspended participation.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Agriculture, Al-Qatrani has already participated in the voting process to select the new Director-General of the organization. His involvement marked the conclusion of the inaugural session of the FAO’s General Conference held in Rome this Sunday.

The decision followed extensive meetings held by Al-Qatrani with his counterparts from worldwide and officials of the organization.

These meetings witnessed intense discussions on the matter and aligned with the efforts made by various elements within and outside the agricultural sector.

The restoration of Libya’s voting rights in the FAO reflects the country’s increased international involvement and influence in the global agricultural sector. It is seen as a critical step in strengthening Libya’s role and voice in matters pertaining to international food security and agricultural policies.
