Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, is set to depart for Syria on Monday. This information was revealed by the Ammon news agency, outlining that Safadi’s visit will include a meeting with his Syrian counterpart, Faisal Mekdad, in the capital city, Damascus.

Safadi’s visit to Syria is of particular importance as it aims to forward the Arab efforts toward achieving a political resolution for the protracted Syrian crisis. These discussions come in the wake of recent meetings in Amman and Riyadh and follow Syria’s reinstatement into the League of Arab States.

Moreover, Safadi may also hold talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad before concluding his diplomatic mission in Damascus.

Upon completing his diplomatic responsibilities in Syria, Safadi will head to Turkey. Ammon has reported that Safadi is scheduled to meet with his newly appointed Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, to extend his congratulatory wishes.

While in Turkey, Safadi will delve into the bilateral relations between Jordan and Turkey and shed light on the Jordanian-led initiative’s efforts in procuring a political resolution for the Syrian crisis that safeguards the territorial integrity of Syria.
