In a meeting at the Libyan National Army’s headquarters in Benghazi, Commander Khalifa Haftar welcomed key figures including Osama Hammad, the Prime Minister-designate of Libya, and Belqasim Haftar, the General Director of the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund.

Accompanied by Abu Bakr Al-Zawy, the Deputy Minister of Local Governance, and a delegation including mayors from the southern and southeastern municipalities of Jalu, Awjila, Tazerbo, Sabha, and Kufra, the gathering focused on advancing national development projects.

During the discussions, the group reviewed plans and projects under the government’s supervision in coordination with the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund.

They aimed to streamline processes and overcome challenges to enhance infrastructure, including paving main roads and constructing and maintaining schools, hospitals, power stations, and residential units in Southern Libyan cities and regions.

The mayors expressed profound gratitude towards Commander Haftar for his direct involvement and guidance on the ongoing projects in the southern cities, villages, and regions.

They also appreciated his efforts in promoting reconciliation and peace among the residents of Southern Libya, which is crucial for the region’s harmony and development.

Additionally, the mayors thanked Prime Minister-designate Osama Hammad and Belqasim Haftar for their recent field tour in the southern cities, which helped them assess the overall conditions and the specific challenges faced by these areas.

This meeting underscores the concerted efforts by Libyan leadership to foster development and stability across the nation, particularly in the less developed southern regions.

Khalifa Haftar emphasized the commitment of the armed forces to build a prosperous future for Benghazi.

Speaking at a Benghazi reconstruction event on Saturday evening, Haftar highlighted a strategy that focuses on infrastructure development and urban planning.

Haftar noted that the designated government from the House of Representatives is actively pursuing tangible projects for Benghazi’s advancement.

He expressed a desire to see results from such efforts, contrasting them with previous initiatives that failed to deliver noticeable outcomes.
