Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Sergey Naryshkin, the director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), engaged in discussions aimed at stabilizing the regional situation in the Middle East.

During the meeting, they delved into potential strategies to mitigate tensions in the region, particularly amidst the crisis in the Gaza Strip and escalating tensions. Egyptian presidential spokesman Ahmed Fahmy highlighted the dialogue surrounding methods to foster stability amidst ongoing challenges.

Among the focal points of discussion were initiatives for resolving African issues, counterterrorism efforts, and pertinent international affairs including developments in Ukraine and Afghanistan.

Furthermore, the leaders explored Qatar’s role in de-escalating regional tensions by fostering communication with all involved parties. President el-Sisi emphasized the significance of a Gaza ceasefire and facilitating humanitarian aid as pivotal steps toward regional tranquility.

El-Sisi reiterated the imperative of achieving a comprehensive and equitable resolution to the Palestinian conflict, advocating for the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital to ensure enduring peace in the Middle East.

Affirming their dedication to further collaboration, El-Sisi and Naryshkin affirmed their commitment to ongoing consultations and coordination to safeguard the interests of their respective nations, both of which share a long-standing bond of friendship.

The meeting, attended by Director of the Egyptian General Intelligence Directorate Abbas Kamel, underscores the mutual commitment to fostering stability and prosperity in the region through diplomatic channels and strategic cooperation.
