The US State Department announced that Washington and its partners are ready to resume the Jeddah talks once the sides demonstrate their commitment.

In a press statement, the department highlighted that the situation in Sudan is concerning due to the repeated violations of the cease-fire declarations.

“We believe that there is no acceptable military solution to the conflict in Sudan,” the statement read.

The commander of Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemedti, recently announced a two-day “unilateral” ceasefire in their conflict with the army.

Hemedti stated that the ceasefire would be in effect on the eve of Eid and on the day of Eid itself, with the exception of situations that require self-defense.

The declaration of the ceasefire is aimed at fostering an atmosphere of reconciliation and peace among the Sudanese people during the festive period.
