Hicham El Khlifi, the President of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Electronic Games, has been unanimously elected as the President of the African Confederation of Digital Sports (ACDS). The constitutive General Assembly of the ACDS took place in Casablanca, with the participation of representatives from 40 countries. This milestone event marks a significant development for Africa’s progress in the realm of digital sports.

The members of the confederation expressed their deep appreciation to His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the Kingdom of Morocco for hosting the assembly, recognizing the assembly’s importance in advancing digital sports in Africa and the Kingdom’s contribution to sports development on the continent.

Mr. El Khlifi emphasized that the ACDS will play a vital role in the growth and promotion of digital sports in Africa, a continent abundant with talented and enthusiastic digital sports enthusiasts. He further noted that the establishment of the ACDS is the result of a shared commitment to creating a platform that fosters collaboration and cooperation among various stakeholders in digital sports in Africa. The ACDS is dedicated to facilitating open and transparent discussions to foster the development of digital sports practices across the continent.

Fayçal Laraïchi, the President of the Moroccan National Olympic Committee (CNOM), hailed the creation of the ACDS as a significant milestone in fostering connections between African countries and their youth. He emphasized the rapid expansion of digital sports and the increasing participation in the field.

The primary objective of the ACDS is to promote and develop the e-sports ecosystem in Africa by bringing together the national governing bodies for e-sports in all African countries. The ACDS aims to enhance Africa’s presence in the digital sports domain and provide new opportunities for African talent to thrive.
