Jamal Rashdi, the official spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, strongly condemned the decision by the Israeli occupation government to seize 8,000 dunams of Palestinian land in the Jordan Valley area of the West Bank, declaring it state land as a prelude to expanding settlement construction on it.
The spokesperson added that the occupation’s decision, which coincided with the visit of US Secretary of State Blinken to the region, reflects Israeli efforts to solidify the illegal settlement reality and challenge the international will seeking to implement the two-state solution by rendering it impossible through the expansion of settlements and the continued seizure of Palestinian lands, especially in Area C, which represents about 60% of the West Bank’s territory.
He emphasized that the crimes of the occupation in Gaza, with all their brutality, should not divert attention from the ongoing Israeli plan to annex lands and eliminate what remains of the two-state solution.
The world must be aware of the danger posed by the occupation government, entirely subservient to extremists and settlers, in destroying the Palestinians’ future political horizon.
