Jordan has extradited Khalaf Abdul Rahman Humaid al-Rumaithi, a wanted man with alleged links to the Muslim Brotherhood, to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The state-run Emirates News Agency (WAM) confirmed the transfer of al-Rumaithi to UAE authorities on Wednesday.

According to the WAM report, al-Rumaithi is facing charges in the UAE for his involvement in “establishing a secret organization affiliated with the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood that aims to oppose the foundational principles of the UAE government.” An arrest warrant had been issued against him, and the extradition was carried out through the legal and judicial cooperation of the Arab Interior Ministers’ Council, which is responsible for prosecuting criminals who evade local legal proceedings.

Under UAE criminal law, al-Rumaithi will face a retrial on the same charges. In 2013, he was sentenced in absentia to 15 years in prison. Reports at that time indicated that al-Rumaithi was associated with approximately 100 Emirati nationals who were charged with sedition and plotting to overthrow the government.

The latest WAM report emphasized that the UAE remains committed to safeguarding its sovereignty, stability, and the safety and security of its citizens and residents. It reiterated the UAE’s determination to pursue those wanted for justice and ensure they face fair judicial processes.
