An Egyptian court has sentenced the former Supreme Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood, Mohamed Badie, and the acting Supreme Guide, Mahmoud Ezzat, to death in connection with the case known in the media as the “Rabaa Sit-in incidents.”

According to Egypt’s “Al-Youm Al-Sabea” newspaper, “the First Circuit (Terrorism) sentenced Mohamed Badie, Mohamed El-Beltagy, and six others to death in the criminal case of national security, widely known as the ‘Rabaa Sit-in incidents.’ The court also sentenced 37 other defendants to life imprisonment.”

The accused were found guilty of providing a group, established in violation of the law, with financial aid, weapons, ammunition, and incendiary devices.

They, along with others who remain unidentified, orchestrated a gathering aimed at committing premeditated murder for terrorist purposes, using force, violence, and threats against public officials to unlawfully coerce them into abstaining from performing their duties, and deliberately sabotaging buildings and properties designated for governmental interests and public utilities for a terrorist purpose.
