More than thirty international media organizations have signed an open letter expressing their solidarity with journalists working in Gaza and calling for their protection and freedom to perform their duties.

The letter, coordinated by the Committee to Protect Journalists and signed by global news agencies and media outlets, states, “For about five months, journalists and media workers in Gaza – the sole source of field reports from inside the Palestinian territory – have been operating in unprecedentedly dangerous conditions.

According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, at least 89 journalists and media workers in Gaza have lost their lives in this conflict.”

The letter emphasizes that journalists are civilians and should be protected by the Israeli occupation authorities under international law, insisting that those responsible for any violations of this protection must be held accountable.
