The European Union (EU) has called for the apprehension and prosecution of the Israeli extremist settlers responsible for the violent assault on the town of Turmusaya.

In a show of solidarity, the EU Representative in Palestine, Sven Kuhn von Burgsdorff, led a delegation of more than 20 diplomatic missions from EU member states and like-minded nations to Turmusaya.

Their purpose was to convey heartfelt condolences to the victims of the settler attacks that took place on 21 June, and to witness the extensive damage inflicted on homes and properties.

Expressing deep sympathies to the family of Omar Jabara, a 27-year-old father of two young children who tragically lost his life while attempting to rescue his neighbors, the visiting delegation emphasised the urgent need for a thorough investigation into these appalling crimes.

Their objective is to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice for their actions.

The assault on Turmusaya occurred on Wednesday afternoon when a group of Israeli settlers, protected by the Israel Defense Forces, launched a violent rampage in the occupied West Bank. Tragically, Omar Ketin, also 27 years old, was killed during the attack. Additionally, numerous homes, vehicles, and agricultural lands were set ablaze, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

This incident followed a harrowing night for Palestinians residing near Nablus, as their villages and towns were similarly targeted by Israeli settlers, resulting in several injuries.

The wave of violence has prompted widespread condemnation and a fervent plea for justice from the international community, with the EU taking a leading role in advocating for accountability and the protection of innocent lives.
