Real Madrid tops the list of the most profitable football clubs with earnings of 841 million euros, according to the latest report from the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) on the “European Position on Financing and Investments of Clubs.” This report covered over 700 clubs competing in the top-tier leagues across Europe.

The combined profits of these clubs reached 23.9 billion euros in 2022, marking a 13% increase from the previous year. Furthermore, the top 20 European clubs’ earnings in 2023 amounted to 11.7 billion euros, indicating a “very healthy” surge of 16% compared to 2022.

According to the report, which is based on the latest data by the end of 2023, Manchester City ranked second with earnings of 836 million euros, followed by Barcelona in third place with 815 million euros. Paris Saint-Germain came in fourth with 807 million euros, and Manchester United was fifth with 747 million euros in profits.

Regarding domestic championships, the English Premier League was the most profitable in 2022, with earnings of 6.5 billion euros, followed by the Spanish League with 3.3 billion euros.

Real Madrid reported a profit of 11.8 million euros for the financial year 2022-23, which is slightly less than the profit from the previous season. Despite this slight decrease, the club’s operating income reached 843 million euros during the same period, marking a significant 17% increase from the 2021-22 financial year. This growth in operating income highlights the club’s strong financial management and ability to generate revenue from various sources, even amidst challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing renovation project of their Bernabeu stadium. The club’s net worth has also risen to 558 million euros, with a considerable improvement in net debt, which stood at 46.7 million euros as of June 30, 2023, down from 263.1 million euros the previous year.

Real Madrid celebrated a significant victory by winning the 2021/22 Champions League, securing the prestigious title after defeating Liverpool in the final. This win added to the club’s illustrious history in European football, showcasing their continued dominance on the continent.
