In a collaborative effort, Egypt and France have reaffirmed their commitment to opposing any measures or policies aimed at displacing Palestinians from their ancestral lands. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt held a crucial meeting on Sunday with France’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Stephane Sejourne, in the presence of Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.

During the meeting, bilateral relations were discussed, and Sejourne conveyed the greetings of French President Emmanuel Macron to President El-Sisi. The leaders delved into the current situation in the Gaza Strip, focusing on Egypt’s endeavors to facilitate a ceasefire and provide humanitarian aid to alleviate the dire conditions faced by the people of Gaza.

The talks underscored the importance of the international community taking responsibility for implementing relevant resolutions to address the ongoing crisis. Sejourne emphasized France’s commitment to collaborating with Egypt to achieve a lasting ceasefire, facilitate the exchange of detainees and hostages, and prevent further escalation of the conflict.

Both nations mutually agreed on the imperative to rejuvenate the two-state solution as the foundation for a comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian issue, aiming to restore security and stability in the Middle East. Sejourne described the situation in the Gaza Strip as “tragic” and emphasized the right of Palestinians and Israelis to coexist. He outlined their joint efforts with Egypt in working towards the establishment of a sovereign and viable Palestinian state, encompassing the West Bank and Gaza based on the 1967 borders.
