Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi reiterated, on Thursday, Egypt’s unwavering support for efforts aimed at safeguarding the territorial integrity of Libya and bolstering the nation’s state institutions.

This commitment is crucial for enabling these institutions to play their pivotal role in realizing the goal of conducting presidential and parliamentary elections in Libya.

The move underscores Egypt’s dedication to advancing the interests of the Libyan people and fostering stability and development in the region.

During a comprehensive discussion session held at the Presidential Palace in Cairo, President el-Sisi engaged with the Head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Mnifi, to gain insights into the evolving political landscape in Libya and the concerted efforts by the Presidential Council to unify the perspectives of various Libyan factions.

The meeting further emphasized the importance of consolidating the unity and security of the Libyan state.

A key focus was on the withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libyan soil, continuing the momentum to enhance the capabilities of Libyan state institutions.

This is seen as vital for completing the electoral process, thereby activating the will of the Libyan people, and safeguarding their supreme interests and resources.

The World Bank’s Resident Representative in Libya, Henriette Kolterner, presented a copy of the damage assessment report resulting from Storm Daniel to the Minister of Finance of the interim Government of National Unity, Khaled Al-Mabrouk.
