Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi has highlighted the critical situation in Gaza due to ongoing aggression and the escalating humanitarian disaster in the region. This statement came during a phone call with British Foreign Secretary David Cameron on Tuesday.

According to a statement from Jordan’s Foreign Ministry, the conversation focused on the situation in Gaza and efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement and facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into the area.

Safadi underscored the vital importance of continuing support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), which he described as playing an irreplaceable and indispensable role in aiding Palestinians to cope with the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and other refugee areas.

The discussion between Safadi and his British counterpart also covered the efforts being made to find mechanisms that would allow the immediate and sufficient delivery of aid to Gaza, including from Jordan, and efforts to de-escalate the regional situation.

Both parties agreed to continue consultations on these efforts. Additionally, Safadi and Cameron discussed bilateral relations, reaffirming their commitment to further develop ties across various sectors.

This dialogue underscores the international community’s concern over the dire situation in Gaza and the essential role of UNRWA in providing relief to the Palestinian people amidst ongoing conflicts.
