Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, during which they strongly condemned the extensive strikes carried out by a group of countries against Yemen.
This statement was published by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, indicating that the phone call included discussions between the ministers regarding the progress made in drafting a new agreement between the two countries and several practical issues related to bilateral cooperation in trade, economy, transportation, logistics services, and other fields.
Special attention was given to the escalating tensions in the Middle East, while both ministers strongly condemned the broad strikes carried out by a group of countries, led by the United States and Great Britain, on Yemeni territories.
They called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and ensuring unimpeded humanitarian aid access to the region to provide urgent assistance to affected civilian populations.
The two ministers discussed the ongoing communication and coordination tasks at all levels, reaffirming their mutual commitment to the fundamental principles of Russian-Iranian relations.
This includes unconditional respect for sovereignty, regional security, and other principles of the United Nations Charter, which will be emphasized in the “Great” strategic partnership agreement being prepared between Russia and Iran.
