At the conclusion of the NATO-Ukraine Council meeting, the NATO alliance reaffirmed its commitment to provide military support to Kyiv, including bolstering Ukrainian air defenses.

In the final statement issued after the meeting on Wednesday, it was stated, “Allies have provided a wide range of air defense systems to Ukraine, and today they reaffirmed their commitment to continue enhancing Ukrainian defense capabilities.”

The statement also emphasized that NATO would continue providing economic and humanitarian support to Ukraine.

According to the statement, the alliance will allocate billions of euros to enhance Ukraine’s capabilities in 2024, but specific deliveries planned by the alliance were not disclosed.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg convened the NATO-Ukraine Council meeting at the request of Kyiv to discuss recent missile strikes and drone attacks carried out by Russian forces.

Media reports indicated that the meeting aimed to discuss the supply of more advanced defense systems ahead of the NATO Military Committee meeting at the level of Chiefs of Defense, scheduled for January 17 and 18.
