Former U.S. President Donald Trump utilized his first visit this year to Iowa to launch attacks against his Republican presidential nomination rival, Nikki Haley, and to respond to current Democratic President Joe
According to Sky News, Trump’s visit comes just ten days before the crucial party conference in Iowa, which marks the first round of the race for the Republican nomination.
In a speech before a crowd of supporters, Trump painted a bleak picture of the United States, describing it as a “helpless” country plagued by “terrorists” and immigrants from “mental asylums” flowing across the Mexican border.
Responding to President Biden, who recently warned of the risks associated with electing Trump for a second term during an event in Pennsylvania, Trump criticized Biden’s handling of the country.
He particularly addressed Biden’s remarks about Trump’s behavior on January 6, 2021, when a crowd of his supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol as lawmakers were certifying Biden’s 2020 election victory.
With the upcoming elections scheduled for November, Biden is likely to face Trump again. Trump told his supporters in Iowa, “Nothing has improved under the fraudulent Joe Biden. Everything is in chaos.”
Trump also targeted his competitor Haley, who served as the United States Ambassador to the United Nations for two years during his term.
While trailing behind Trump by more than 30 points in Iowa, Haley reportedly leads in New Hampshire. Trump accused Haley of being in the pocket of donors who support open borders throughout her career.
In response, Haley’s team cited her record as the Governor of South Carolina, emphasizing her achievements and stance on various issues.
