Local and regional intelligence sources have reported that Jordan conducted several airstrikes inside Syria on Thursday, targeting warehouses and hideouts of drug smugglers affiliated with Iran along the border between the two countries.

The Jordanian military has intensified its campaign against drug traffickers following prolonged clashes last month with dozens of infiltrators from Syria who were associated with factions aligned with Iran.

These infiltrators were found carrying substantial quantities of drugs, as well as weapons and explosives when they crossed the border.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that a fighter jet, likely of Jordanian origin, carried out two airstrikes on locations in the countryside of Sweida province in southern Syria.

The observatory noted that at least two explosions occurred in the village of Um al-Raman in areas believed to be associated with “drug traffickers,” but there is no information about human casualties at this time.
