On Tuesday, a Russian military aircraft unexpectedly dropped its bombs over a village in the Voronezh region, western Russia, as reported by both military and local officials.

The incident occurred around 9:00 a.m. above the village of Petropavlovka, according to a statement from Russia’s Defense Ministry.

The accidental release of the bombs resulted in an explosion, which fortunately did not cause any fatalities or injuries. However, it did cause damage to at least six private properties.

The Defense Ministry has stated that an investigation is being conducted to understand the details of this event.

Additionally, a team is presently working in the area to evaluate the damage and to help with repairing the affected buildings.

In response to the incident, Voronezh region Governor Aleksander Gusev mentioned that some of the Petropavlovka residents are being relocated to temporary accommodations.

Gusev has also committed to promptly resolving compensation issues and rebuilding efforts, assuring that every affected person will be attended to.

This incident in Petropavlovka coincided with Russia launching missile strikes on Ukrainian cities on the same day, resulting in at least four deaths and injuries to several others.

Petropavlovka is located approximately 150 kilometers east of the Russian-Ukrainian border.

Last month, at least ten people were killed, and 45 others sustained injuries in a Ukrainian attack on the Russian city of Belgorod, near the border, as reported by the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The Ministry, via the Telegram application, stated, “Nine adults and one child were killed in Belgorod due to shelling by the Ukrainian army,” and further noted that 45 others were injured, including four children.

Images released by the authorities showed cars engulfed in flames and buildings with shattered windows, depicting the aftermath of the attack.
