Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has extended an invitation to his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, to visit Turkey.
According to the Turkish Ambassador to Cairo, Salih Mutlu Şan, “Our President has sent an invitation to the Egyptian President to visit Turkey,” as reported by the Turkish newspaper “Zaman.”
Mutlu Şan added, “I know that Egyptians want to see Erdogan,” and continued, “The two leaders will determine the location of the meeting, which will take place in either Ankara or Cairo.”
It is worth noting that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed last month on the importance of immediately elevating the level of diplomatic relations and exchanging ambassadors between the two countries, following Erdogan’s victory in the recent presidential elections.
Over the past 10 years, Egyptian-Turkish relations have experienced political stagnation, despite continued economic ties.

Diplomatic representation between the two nations reached its lowest point, but less than two years ago, there was talk of a renewed rapprochement.

In recent times, there have been indications of a desire to improve relations between Egypt and Turkey, as both countries recognize the potential benefits of strengthening their diplomatic ties. A visit by President Sisi to Turkey would serve as a significant step toward enhancing bilateral relations and opening up avenues for cooperation in various fields.

Egypt and Turkey, as influential regional powers, hold the potential for constructive engagement on political, economic, and security issues. A visit by President Sisi to Turkey would provide an opportunity for high-level discussions, paving the way for mutual understanding and the exploration of common interests.

Furthermore, enhanced diplomatic relations between Egypt and Turkey can contribute to regional stability and cooperation in the Middle East. Both countries have significant roles to play in addressing regional challenges, including regional conflicts and promoting economic development.

A potential visit by President Sisi to Turkey would not only signify a positive shift in bilateral relations but also hold symbolic value in the context of regional dynamics. It would demonstrate a willingness to engage in dialogue and find common ground on shared concerns, fostering a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect.

As both countries strive to strengthen their diplomatic ties, it is crucial to approach this potential visit with openness and a commitment to constructive dialogue. Such an approach can pave the way for increased cooperation, benefiting both nations and contributing to the stability and prosperity of the region as a whole.
