A delegation from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group, currently holding captives in Gaza, has convened in Cairo for talks with Egyptian officials, focusing on strategies to halt what they refer to as “Israeli aggression against our people in Gaza,” according to an official statement from the group to Reuters on Sunday.

The draft resolution originally included a call for an immediate end to the war, a clause that was ultimately removed to accommodate objections from the US and Israel, who argue against a ceasefire, asserting that it would provide an opportunity for Iran-backed Hamas to regain strength.
