Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi convened with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Transport Minister Kamel al-Wazir, Naval Forces Commander Ashraf Atwa, Armed Forces’ Financial Affairs Chief Ahmed al-Shazly, and Engineering Authority Head Ahmed el-Azzazi to discuss national projects.

Presidential Spokesperson Ahmed Fahmy stated that President El-Sisi was briefed on various national projects undertaken by the Ministry of Transport.

A key focus was the Gargoub Development Project, aimed at transforming the area around Gargoub Commercial Port into a special economic zone. This initiative seeks to leverage the port to boost foreign trade and modern industries in northwest Egypt.

Transport Minister presented details of this extensive development project, which plans to utilize the area’s unique characteristics comprehensively. This includes port development, urban and industrial growth in surrounding areas, creating a renewable energy zone, and exploiting the coastal front as a tourist destination.

The project is set to enhance modern industries and improve the economic conditions of residents and the entire Matrouh region, with plans for manufacturing zones, a business center, new residential and service districts, hotels, and resorts.

The meeting also highlighted the Green Hydrogen Production and Export Project, a significant venture in the development plan, in collaboration with a consortium led by Belgian company “Deme.” This project is anticipated to attract $26 billion in foreign direct investment in the coming years.

Fahmy added that President El-Sisi directed the implementation of the project, aligning with Egypt’s developmental and economic vision, especially focusing on industry and trade.

He emphasized attracting population growth to the area and adhering to global standards in industrial area planning and environmental protection.

President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s aim to enhance its leadership as an international trade and logistics hub, optimizing its geographical location and supporting the state’s comprehensive development plan for a holistic renaissance in the Arab Republic.
