Authorities in the state of Florida evacuated Fort Lauderdale International Airport on Monday due to a bomb threat, prompting an airport authority statement instructing people to leave the airport.

The airport authorities announced via the “X” platform: ” Due to a developing security-related incident, law enforcement has evacuated the upper level of Terminal 1 and temporarily closed #FLL’s Departures entrance in an abundance of caution until further notice.

“Updates will be posted as more info is available,” the airport added.

In response to the threat, the Broward County Mayor’s Office confirmed that their personnel had handled the situation and arrested a man who is currently under investigation.

As a precautionary measure, the upper level of Terminal 1 was evacuated while the bomb squad investigates the incident.
