Israeli media outlets reported on Saturday the death of an Israeli hostage in Gaza.
Anbar Haiman, 27 years old, had been held captive by Hamas since October 7th when she attended a music event in the Gaza Strip.
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper did not provide details about the circumstances of the young woman’s death, but the Israeli Broadcasting Authority stated that she was killed by Hamas.
This comes as families of Israeli hostages held in Gaza since the Hamas attack on October 7th have called on the Israeli government to “stop the fighting and initiate negotiations” with the Palestinian movement to secure their release.
Noam Perry, the daughter of prisoner Chaim Perry, said, “We only receive bodies. We want you to stop the fighting and start negotiations,” during a gathering in Tel Aviv on Saturday, following the Israeli army’s announcement that it had “accidentally” killed three of the prisoners during a military operation in Gaza.
In earlier statements, Qatar, Egypt, and the United States mediated an agreement last month between Hamas and Israel.
As part of the agreement, Hamas released over 100 women and children who had been held since the October 7th attack, in exchange for Israel releasing 240 women and children from its prisons.
