The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has issued a call for donations amounting to $9.3 billion to assist over 90 million children affected by conflicts and climate disasters worldwide in 2024, according to the French Press Agency.

Catherine Russell, the head of the United Nations agency, stated in a press release, that millions of children continue to endure increasingly complex and widespread humanitarian crises, which strain our resources even further.

This comes at a time when all humanitarian workers are struggling to fund the growing needs around the world.

Russell added that Children must have continuous access to essential services, whether in the field of health, clean water, hygiene, or education.

Therefore, UNICEF is calling for the collection of $9.3 billion to aid no less than 93.7 million children in 155 countries next year.

These funds are primarily intended to assist Afghanistan (about $1.5 billion) and Syrian refugees, as well as Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ukraine, and Ukrainian refugees.

In a broader sense, through this funding, UNICEF aims to vaccinate 17.3 million children against measles, treat 7.6 million severely malnourished children, provide education to 19.3 million children, supply clean drinking water to 52.4 million, and even offer psychological support to 26.7 million children and adolescents.
