The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hussein Ibrahim Taha, has expressed his disappointment and condemnation of the United Nations Security Council’s failure to vote in favor of a decisive resolution to ceasefire in Gaza.

He views this failure as negatively impacting the Council’s role in maintaining international peace and security, and in protecting innocent civilians from the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza, which exacerbates the humanitarian catastrophe.

According to the organization’s official website, the Secretary-General warned that the Security Council’s failure to fulfill its responsibilities at this critical juncture provides the Israeli occupation with an opportunity to continue and escalate its aggression against the Palestinian people.

He commended the positions of all countries that supported the resolution proposal in the Security Council, reiterating the need to continue efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and provide international protection for the Palestinian people.

This statement from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation emphasizes the urgent need for international intervention and support for the Palestinian cause, especially in light of the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
