Graham Stuart, the Minister of State for Energy and Net Zero in the United Kingdom, stated that the UK has achieved greater reductions in emissions than any other major economy since 1990.

During an interview on the sidelines of the COP28 conference with “Economy Sky News Arabia,” Stuart mentioned that the UK has ambitious plans to further reduce emissions in the future.

However, the country recognizes the importance of assisting other nations on the path to a “net-zero emissions” future.

He announced that the Prime Minister has committed £1.6 billion – around $2 billion – as international climate finance during his recent visits, in addition to other announcements to contribute to climate mitigation and adaptation.

This ensures that everyone in the world will participate in the transition appropriately and fairly, according to Stuart.

Regarding the UK’s commitment to climate action, Stuart emphasized that his country is the only one among major economies to have enshrined in law the goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions.

Furthermore, the UK has budget commitments aimed at reducing carbon emissions.

He added that the UK is committed to its vision for 2030, pledging to reduce emissions in about 90 carbon baseline areas by up to 68%, positioning the UK at the forefront of countries dedicated to climate change projects and emissions reduction.
